Message
To preserve beautiful nature as a legacy for the next generation.
Jun-hong Kim, CTO
Hello, I am Jun-hong Kim, CTO of Biovan Korea.
If our generation has one great mission, I believe it is to preserve beautiful nature and pass it on to those who come after us. Excess nitrogen (T-N) and phosphorus (T-P) from industry, agriculture and population growth have pushed soil and water pollution to a serious level.
Korea is surrounded by sea on three sides, and we share a duty to protect its marine resources. Red tides and organic pollution return every year, seaweed and shellfish are disappearing, and the polluted area keeps growing.
Biovan Korea sets its environmental goals by the ISO 14001 international standard. We purify riverbed sludge in streams, rivers and reservoirs in a nature-friendly way, restoring their self-purifying capacity and the balance of the ecosystem. Instead of one-off treatments such as coagulants, we reduce T-N and T-P effectively through biological soil remediation and water management.
Thank you.
Vision · 01
Float
Living microbes lift pollutants that have built up underwater. No special physical methods required.
Vision · 02
Rise
Floating pollutants are brought to the surface. No dredging required.
Vision · 03
Carbonize
At the surface, sunlight carbonizes the pollutants, keeping the water pure.
A biological process that removes organic sludge from the bottom without dredging.
Biovan Korea developed a biological wastewater treatment technology that captures the nitrogen and phosphorus dissolved in polluted water. It treats high-concentration wastewater (as of 2001: 8.49 million tons of industrial and 190,000 tons of livestock wastewater a year), breaks down chemicals such as dioxins, and causes no secondary pollution. Applied to polluted reservoirs and lakes, it removes organic sludge from the bottom without dredging.
The technology works through living microbes. Without any special physical method, it lifts pollutants from the bottom to the surface, where sunlight carbonizes them — an environmental restoration method that keeps water pure.
In all of its work, Biovan Korea puts the quality and environmental policies required by ISO certification first, aiming to grow as an environmental company that leads 21st-century environmental improvement and puts its customers first.

History
PlansPlans: 2027 and beyond
- 2027Plans
Pursuing the Pyeongtaek Lake priority reservoir project
For the Pyeongtaek Lake water quality program ramping up from 2027, we are proposing field demonstrations of BROST non-dredging sludge treatment and SUBION algae and odor reduction.
- 2028Plans
Expanding non-dredging sludge treatment for reservoirs and streams
Building on our work at Baedari Lake, Banwol Lake and other sites, we are bringing the BWAT-21 reactor and SUBION to more reservoirs and streams.
- 2029Plans
Expanding overseas lake partnerships
Building on our Issyk-Kul site visits and technology presentations in the U.S., we are pursuing water quality partnerships for lakes and rivers abroad.
- 2030Plans
Helping Pyeongtaek Lake reach Grade III water quality
In line with the 2030 Grade III target for Pyeongtaek Lake, we aim to build and openly share a record of on-site water quality changes.
These are Biovan Korea's future goals and do not represent confirmed projects or contracts.
